Mel does Port Adelaide

On Saturday afternoon as I was sitting drooling over Rosalie's new book, Mel started complaining that it had been ages since he was out and about.

Port Adelaide

Stina please note arm of chair obscures by Mel.

I relented and off we went, as we live close to Port Adelaide I thought that would be nice place to visit.

 Port Adelaide

We looked at the bridge but no boats came so it didn't open up.

 Port Adelaide

Ahoy me maties.

Being a monkee he thought he might climb the light house but only got this far.

 Port Adelaide

Then he decided to explore the Falie which used to be a training vessel but is now tied up in dock.

Port Adelaide

Please note sign........... he couldn't read.

He really wanted to do this but there was only one cruise each day and we had missed it. That will have to be another outing.

Port Adelaide

Then the trouble started.

Port Adelaide has a lot of these.

Normally when Mel & I have an adventure Tony is with us but as he was working we were on our own. When I got home the family were totally amazed by this photo and are considering not letting me out alone any more.......

Those big burly bikies were very accommodating.

Have a nice week and Mel will be back soon with another adventure.

A few things

About a week ago Chookyblue had a little give away and I was luck enough to receive this yesterday when the postie called. I am now the proud owner of some original Chookyblue cards so thanks for that Donna.

Lynette Anderson showed us her lovely new key ring and ask for us to do the same(there is a give away attached to it). This is mine.....my weight watchers reaching goal and my St Christopher.

IMG_3315_20_1

I thought I might show you my old key ring....... I won a few prizes at Quiz nights with it. When they ask for the most unusual thing anyone had in their handbag.........not many people could top a cord clamp those who have worked in maternity might recognise it, for those who haven't it is the clap you put on the babies umbilical cord after birth.

Leanne Beasley asked about tins we love.... this is mine for as long as my memory serves me my gran kept her buttons in this tin.

IMG_3313_18_1

But the thing that I love the most about it is, it still has the label sticky taped to the bottom.... have a read is this tin older than you? it's older than me.
The fact that they are still making Monte Carlos.

My lake friends

All you girls who like to take photos I thought you might be interested in a photo swap. It is through a Flickr group called Scent of water photo swap.
Join up date is the 1st July it looks like fun.
Thought I'd share some snaps........ the pelicans down on the lake where all up on the bank having their morning clean when I got back from my walk.

Morning walk

Not that I can tell them apart but there is usually 6 or 7 pelicans there and this one is always there I often wondered what the tag was...... now I know.

Morning walk

I was a bit sad to see this

Morning walk

I rang an organisation who rescue injured water birds and they said they would try and catch him/her to remove the hook however it didn't seem to worry him.

They are really amazing don't you just love the colours in this bill.

Morning walk

and the little hook on the end.

Much cleaning is done

Damp cold Sunday

It's been a damp cold Sunday and all the family have been home which is always good. I have spent the day just playing after my walk.
This is what I have been playing at........ some raw edge appliqué. It will be a panel in a bag.

I was saddened to hear on the news that Jane Mcgrath had lost her battle with breast cancer it is a message to us all. Give your loved ones a special cuddle tonight and if you are over 50 have a mammogram and we all, no matter what age we are need to do regular breast checks.

Some finished stuff

I've been doing a few bits and pieces I made this pin cushion as a gift for a lady who has been stitching with us on Tuesdays for the last few months and is now returning to England. It is a great pattern and very quick and easy. I could also practice my free motion quilting on it.

Pin cushion
I found the pattern here.

I also finished stitching this..... it is really cute as is most of Natalie's stitcheries.

Stitchery

Here is the inside you can use it to put your threads, a small cutting mat and all your bits and pieces in.

Quilting morning tea

Just a reminder to all you Adelaide and South Aussie blogger Hettie's Patch is having a morning tea tomorrow morning in aid of Cancer research, it would be great to see you there. I know Granny Loz, I Wannabe Crafty & Quilty Gal are coming........ with a little persuasion Life at Rosemary Hill might come.

I took these photos in the Park when I was in Moonta recently. I remember this fountain when it had water in it. I expect these days you can not have water in it in case some child drowns. It is such a same..... I remember playing with the water in my best Sunday school dress. The park is across the road from the Uniting Church which is the most beautiful old church. I will share those photos another time.

I love the roots of the Morton Bay fig.

Lynette Anderson is having a give away.

Mount Gambier

Tony, Mel & I have been to Mount Gambier for a few days........... we went for a friends birthday. You can't go to Mount Gambier without a visit to the blue lake which at this time of year isn't very blue.

IMG_2976_1_1

We stayed in a Motel that had a

swimming pool with a spa it was far to cold for me to go in and I'm not sure Mount Gambier is prepared for me in bathers but Mel thought he would give it a go....... until I told him about wool & shrinkage.

It also had a lovely garden.

While I wondered around taking pictures I left Mel.
