Meet Gimpy - so named because if you look closely he/she has a deformed leg. I had always thought he/she was injured in some way. I have fed him/her for a few years on and off. This year he/she has 2 babies and a mate who all turn up for some food. I know you should not feed wild birds but his/her legs seems to be getting worse. I make a special mix up for them - the recipe came from the zoo.
The babies are so funny they make the most amazing noise when they are fed.......... both adult bird feed them.

I love their sounds too, especially when maggies are in a tree happily warbling away. Good to see they don't throw them out of the nest for having gimpy legs :-)
Lovely to meet you at AQM, I had such a great time!
Hugs

Lucky little bird family having you as their human caring friend
How neat that you are caring for this little family. My sister in law makes suet and other bird foods for the wild birds that come to her house. Me, I buy black seed, which they really like.
I once knew a dog with the same name for the same reason. Your photos are beautiful leanne.
Oh how I love magpies! They are truly beautiful and I have to agree with Jo - they sound wonderful! They sound like home to me. Nice pics!
Great photos ! I love to hear the magpies , warbling not swooping !
Leanne your photos really are amazing!!! Lovely to catch up on the weekend! I am so pleased that you got to meet the whole gang. See you next weekend!!!!
oh Leanne you are just too kind, adopting a bird family! How kind and caring
Its good of you to look after the Gimpy family! I can remember my mother telling me of her pet maggie that she would wrap in a blanket and take for a walk in her dolls pram when she was a girl! The magpie would also 'wolf whistle' and whistle 'swanny river'!!!
Finally got a snap of the bumble bee!! Have a great day Lisa
I read your blog all the time and just love your photos. Your magpies are beautiful. We have a family come visit every day too and I also leave wild bird seed out for mum, dad and two babies. They are starting to lose all their down and look quite comical at the moment. Don't you just love the squarks the babies make when they are hungry! Sue-Anne
Gimpy and the family are just lovely visitors to have in your garden, the noises they make are very homely, we have them in our garden too but only while the dogs are sleeping.... :(
I love your caring...about the birds too. Wonderful pictures, by the way, thank you for sharing them!
beautiful pics, love the one of the parent feeding the child.
How very sweet of you to have this connection with the birds. So special! And great pictures showing the story!
