It's been a damp cold Sunday and all the family have been home which is always good. I have spent the day just playing after my walk.

I was saddened to hear on the news that Jane Mcgrath had lost her battle with breast cancer it is a message to us all. Give your loved ones a special cuddle tonight and if you are over 50 have a mammogram and we all, no matter what age we are need to do regular breast checks.

That was really sad...even if I don´t know who she is... Mammograms are a must these days!!
Now to something more happy...your lovely happy fellow!! How did you start and stop with the machine...don´t see so many fixed seams...did you fix them by hand on the back??
I agree totally with the "check your breast regularly" - if you notice anything a little different don't hesitate to get it checked out further. Don't ever think that you should leave any oddity a bit longer before you seek some help! At any age!
On to the admiration for the stitching - oh WOW!!!! Can't wait to see the finished product.
Cancer is such a terrible and terrifying illness.
Your sewing is gorgeous - I am very tempted to try and master this style of applique as I love it!

Love that happy little guy! look forward to seeing the finished article....and I was so sad when I heard that Jane McGrath had passed away...she always presented in such a positive and dignified manner...so sad for her family....it is a message to cherish each minute of our lives and time spent with family and friends..Jane will be remembered for her work to ensure we were all more aware of breast cancer in particular.

What sad news. I simply love this...so joyful. I added it to my favs in flickr. I might try to shamelessly copy this...only if you don't mind, though. Great reminder for everyone too...just do it (mammogram that is!)
Hi Leanne, I love your happy little guy. I also would like to know how you made him look so perfect. Is it lots of practice? I tried this with a small house and I was not happy with it. Have you heard where the traveling pattern has traveled to?
Love your raw edge appliqué...very clever use of using a line drawing and fabric to act as "paint" to complete the picture.
Love your applique, very fun and full of life. I am sorry for the person who passed away, so many have been touched by breast cancer...
So sorry about the sad news - hope someday that this disease will be a thing of the past. Your happy guy is great. Nice work.

LOVE your stitching. It must be the cold damp weather, but I too am stitching this winter and loving it.
That is so cute! Its precious to get some "alone time" for stitching. I was sorry to hear about Jane too. It reminded me to be thankful for what i have.
Love your applique. So exuberant! Jane Mcgrath was such a wonderful woman. I feel for her family.
Those mammograms are hell, but if they save our lives... have to be worth it!

i saw her on denton and really admired her courage and spirit. it must be terrible for her husband and children and it must have been terrible to know what you are leaving behind.

Echo everything said here about Jane McGrath great courage just like all the other women fighting it who are not in the public eye.
but I think her lesson is not to wait till they say to have a mammogram start in your 30- 40s I know they are hard to read in the 20-30s but my mammogram person said after what she has seen she will be having hers done in her 30s
so Leanne I will maybe take up knitting for pygmies??
