Blogging kindness

A few weeks ago a left a comment on Melanie's blog about her thread holder. I said I would get Lucas to have a look at her holders and get him to make me one. Melanie kindly parceled one up and sent it to me along with some lovely material, the generosity amongst bloggers is amazing. Thank you Melanie.

I have put it straight to use.

ANZAC DAY

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them".

Project 365

Gemma & I went to the dawn service this morning it was a lovely still morning. We go to Semaphore which is on the beach I go each year and am amazed at how the numbers each year are growing.
The numbers of people who are attending is growing and the number of diggers is getting less and less.
An old plane does a fly by through the service and it always makes me think of those men and women who were fighting, that eerie sound could have brought joy or fear. Fear of another bombing raid or joy that their own men in the air were looking out for them on the ground.

Anzac Day

The sun slowly came up.

Anzac Day

The service finished.

Anzac Day

We went for a walk out the jetty.

Anzac Day

We shall remember them.

On a lighter note Cathy (Highland Quilter) was the name that came out the hat/cooking bowl. Cathy can you send me your snail mail address.

Table runner on the move.

I finished my table runner this afternoon so I am ready to pass it on to the next person. The idea is if you want to make this very easy table runner leave your name and I will draw a name out of a hat on Friday. When the winner has made her table runner she will post a picture and give the pattern away to someone else. The table runner has already been made by Pat and Deb and it will be interesting to see how far it travels.

Project 365

This was my first attempt at free motion quilting I think I need a lot more practice before I attempt a quilt. I did an individual flower in each square every time I thought I was doing fine I would lose concentration or concentrate too much and end up with a mistake. It was a great small project to cut my teeth on.

Table runner

If you want to play along and make this little table runner just leave a comment and I will draw a name on Friday.

IMG_2404_3_1

I am having trouble with my emails so if you have left me a comment and I haven't responded I am really sorry I will have to get Sean(my IT specialist) to look into it for me.
Hope you had a great weekend.

Farewell to Gazza

3 years ago Lucas got his drivers licence. He would have liked a 6 speed ute with mag wheels and an exhaust pipe the size of a milk can however he got this.

IMG_2158_1_2

We bought Gazza(Galant) as he has been affectionately called from "The Dodgy Brothers" for $999. for cash. If you are Australian and my vintage you will know someone who has had one of these cars. It has been the best little car it starts every morning and has transported Lucas and his mates around, mind you I wouldn't set off on a trip to the country in it.
Lucas bought himself a station wagon as he needed something to carry his tools around so we advertised Gazza and someone came and bought him today. We were all very sad to see Gaz go it was the end of an era.

Look who I caught going for one last drive in Gaz.

IMG_2193_1_1

When I went out to investigate look what I found. Mel back to his old tricks.

IMG_2198_3_1

One would have thought he might have learnt from his last unfortunate brush with the law.

Then I opened the door to find this, at least he would be O.K. if he needed to ring someone.

IMG_2196_2_1

Today while I was at work I got a text message from Sean, Gemma's boy friend. Sean works at the airport it read "Leanne there is a lady at the airport taking photos of a teddy bear sitting on chairs and looking at planes. Your not insane I have decided"

Have a great weekend.

Kindness Matters

For quite a while now I have admired a stitchery I have seen on Cheryl's blog. I emailed her and asked if she had a pattern for it and where I could get it. Cheryl emailed me back saying she had been given the stitchery by a friend and she didn't have a pattern for it. Cheryl was kind enough to send me a photo of it and here is mine, I love it. I am slowly collecting things for my "Stitching Room" which I will get when Gemma moves out in a few months. "Kindness Matters" will be put away until then.
IMG_2358_1_1

Thank you very much Cheryl.

To answer a few questions the punch I used for my butterfly collage was bought from Big W for $8.00 it must be Australia wide as Lisa had bought one in W.A.
I will struggle with crafty things to show for a while as I have a swap present to make and 3 PIF gifts to make and a 100th post coming up soon......... you will have to endure my nature photos for a while.

bloggers are so kind

A few weeks back I won a give away on Pat's blog she had been given the table runner pattern by Deb and now that she had made the table runner was passing the pattern on. Pat and I thought it would be a good idea to see how far this pattern can travel so when I have made it I will do the same. Pat was kind enough to add in some chocolates(that I defiantly don't need),some lovely fabric and a very cute little bunny.

Project 365

Do not be fooled by this lovely green lawn it is the only patch in our back yard that has survived this summer it is where the down pipe from the roof finishes and even a small bit of condensation has kept it alive.

A few Saturdays back there was a Dragon Boat Regatta on the lake Tony & I went down for a walk and I took these photos. We can hear the dragon boats training in the evening from our house - the beating of the drum but mostly the yelling of whoever sets the pace. I admire the people who do it as I am sure there would be a mutiny if I was in one of those boats.

There is only one job I would like and it is this one.

IMG_1861_3_1

You get to sit up the front of the boat and beat the drum.
I could perhaps cope with this one but then you have to stand up.

IMG_1894_10_1

I definitely wouldn't want to do this.

IMG_1873_6_1

Heading toward the finish line I would have jumped out by now.

IMG_1900_13_1

They won and now have to put the brakes on. The man at the end of the boat looks like he is about to die.

IMG_1910_20_1

Now doesn't that look like fun LOL give me a nice walk around the lake anytime.

Playing

I originally saw these lovely pictures over at two lime leaves then after several emails flying back and forth to Lisa -A Spoonful of Sugar I got my act together and made this one.

IMG_2149_1_1

Original the butterflies where cut out of a magazine. I decided to print out a contact sheet of some of my more colourful photos and use them. When I look closely at my butterflies I can see Gemma and Lucas in one butterfly a sunset in another.
