Meet Nellie

Nellie the Elephant packed her trunk
And said goodbye to the circus
Off she went with a trumpety-trump
Trump, trump, trump
Nellie the Elephant packed her trunk
And trundled back to the jungle
Off she went with a trumpety-trump
Trump, trump, trump

Isn't she sweet I made her on the weekend.
This is her with her ferocious look.
I took her to work with me today and we made her Practice Manager for the day, she most probably did a better job than me at times.
She is a Melly & Me pattern. The Pattern is called Ellie.

Valentine Swap

It has been a long week after posting of my Valentine gift to Heidi nearly 2 weeks ago I had the feeling that I may have to spend the weekend making it all over again. Thankfully my parcel to her arrived yesterday I think I could have walked with it to Canberra in less time. Heidi posted her gift to me after I posted mine and her parcel arrive here on Monday.
This is my lovely parcel from Heidi as she doesn't have a blog I will show you all how lucky I was. I got a lovely little bag and some very yummy chocolates that my husband has also enjoyed and some very useful ribbons and buttons. I am very lucky so thank you Heidi. The bag had a sweet little heart attached to the handle.
This is what I sent to Heidi.

To make it an even more stressful week last Saturday Lucas and his mates were swimming in the lake doing this sort of thing. Lucas cut his foot quite badly - I couldn't decide if it had anything in it and I also felt it needed to be sutured up so we took a trip to the 24 hour clinic. The Dr opted for skin glue (I would have preferred stitches) anyway it still looks terrible and is oozing, need I say it again it should have been sutured.
On Sunday he was a very sorry boy a sore foot and a sore arm due to a Tetanus booster. A trip back to the clinic on Wednesday night for antibiotics as I was not happy with how it looked. Normally I would not worry as much about a cut foot but as he started his plumbing apprenticeship 2 weeks ago and has been in trade school for 2 weeks he needs to be able to go out in the field this week, a cut foot and steel cap boots don't usually go together.
Hoping for a better week next week I have also ordered some Moo cards which have been in the post for 3 weeks ........still waiting perhaps I have done something inadvertently to the post angel.

Lovely stitchery

A while back Gail sent me this lovely stitchery, this morning I finally got around to framing it. I consider myself very lucky as she did this one at a quilting weekend and as she is a lover of blue did herself a blue one. I am not sure where I will hang it. I do know that when I get my stitching room it will be hung in there. Thank you Gail I love it.
I have been in a bit of a creative slump so nothing of my own to show I did post off my valentines swap last week but it hasn't arrived yet will post some photos of it when it arrives in Canberra.
It is another hot day here today we haven't had rain in such a long time I have forgotten what it looks like.

In memory of Nick

On the 16th of December 2004 Nick was taken by a shark off the beach at West Beach, he was with some mates being pulled behind a boat on a surf board just having fun. I didn't know Nick personally but I can remember that day as if it was yesterday it was late in the afternoon and I heard it on the radio on my way home from work all the news break said was that a teenage boy had been taken by a shark. It made me go cold as Lucas quite often went to the beach for a swim after school. West beach is about 15 minutes from our house Lucas was at the beach that afternoon but he was at Grange.
Nicks parents have set up a trust in his name all proceeds made from it go to the surf life saving association. Sean was a close friend of Nicks they went to school together on Saturday they had a surf competition in memory of Nick as he was a keen surfer as is Sean.
Here are the boys paddling out Nicks brother Christian and his father Phil went out for a surf they had a 20 minute surf at midday for non competitors.

The competitor paddled out and formed a circle.
I expect they did some reflecting.
Then headed out to catch some waves.

Sean coming in after his surf.Give your children a special hug they are very precious.
On a lighter note it wouldn't be a day out without Mel ..........he thought he was up to surfing with the big boys but I persuaded him to stay close to shore.
He sat and watched the waves crash in from the roof of the car.
He sat on some rocks down on the beach don't you love it...... he is the same colour as my shoes..... green....... my favourite colour.

On the way home we stopped and showed him what he could have been made out of ......................lovely soft alpaca wool.

356 Challenge

I am up to date with my quilt after spending an afternoon catching up. I only have 2 and a 1/2 rows to complete. I have had to change my way of hanging it..... I asked Lucas to hold it up for me this time.

Wonderful post.

Before Christmas I was luck enough to win a give away over on Vickies blog. Vickie is ever so generous she has another give away going at the moment. This lovely bundle of fabrics arrived last week. They are are ever so cute.
I thought about what I could make with them and decided that they would make a cute little quilt so while Hetties was having a sale I went and bought these fabrics.
Then I received another parcel my friend Kerry sent me these lovely Tilda books for making the Winnie the Pooh wall quilts.
They have so many lovely projects in them, can't wait until my 2 day work week start then I can go into sewing over drive.

Another beautiful day

Not a lot of crafting or blogging has been done here of late. After a lovely long holiday I am back to work which cuts into my crafting time. This, I have decided is not good so I made the decision that I would resign. I like my job but have been thinking for a while that I would like to work less. I put my resignation in and my boss wouldn't accept it we have come to a compromise - once I have trained another person I will work 2 days a week which will be just enough for me.
The start of another beautiful day........... I have been trying for ages to take some photos of the cranes that are down on the lake early in the morning. I was beginning to believe they knew when I had my camera with me as the days I walked without my camera there was always a crane then the days I took my camera there was not a crane in sight. This morning I got lucky.
I love to watch them walk along in the water with their head cocked to the side looking for their breakfast.

He got lucky........... yummy worms for breakfast.

Now that school is back the school rowing teams are out on the lake.

Nearly home.
