A chick leaves the nest

Gemma moved out on the weekend back into the house she grew up in.......it has been a hectic, stressful few days as the tenant that moved out left it in quite a state but we wouldn't go there for fear of my blood pressure rising again.
I have lots of emotions running around inside of me at the moment........ my baby has moved out........she is 22 I left home when I was 16 and have never moved back but I really enjoy Gemma's company so I expect I will miss her heaps.....she hasn't moved that far away but it still seems strange.

The "L" team that would be Lucas & Leanne went into action

Painting G's room

and painted Gemma's room in readiness for all my sewing stuff to move in - Lucas is really helpful but he has an ulterior motive for this.... if I move into Gemma's room I am moving out of his back area and apparently my sewing stuff is very untidy Huh.

Before the move I did manage to finish this present for a friends baby....Miss Milly from "The Gift" I was pleased with how she turned out.

I am sure you will miss Gemma - but how fun to be getting your own room for your sewing. Cute bunny - I just love the outfit you made for her.

That's a cheerful colour you have picked for your sewing room ... you'll want to be in there all the time!

Your dolly is also very cute. You sure can pump out the projects ... and such cute ones too. I'm not so dedicated. I did a bit of sewing today but it is a finicky project and I had enough of it by noon. I will work on it again tomorrow.

It's always a bit sad when they leave home but they usually pop back so often it's like they haven't moved out any way. I've given you an award. Pop over and see.

Kids moving out means a new decade. My brother’s oldest girl moved out last week. She is going to study and moved into a students’ appartment. The whole family has to adjust.
I hope Gemma loves her ‘independence’ and loves to come back home to hug her family.

Great bright white walls in your new sewing space! The yellow tricks the eye, but when you look at the paint roller and the taped windows you can see it’s going to be white!

Miss Milly is a cutie!

It will be really strange having a Gemma-less house but I'm sure you'll still see her loads! It's strange but I had never thought that my parents would have missed me when I went away to school for two years and then Uni until my next door neighbours' daughter went to Uni 3 years ago and I saw how much they missed her! As a young adult you are just so unaware of what is going on around you I think!

Can't wait to see your new sewing room!

It will be nice for you to have your own room even if something sad happened for you to get it. Miss Milly is so cute. I thought of you today when I was trying to take some pics of cormorants ( unsuccessfully)

It's sad and wonderful all at the same time when they move out. It's something I never spent any time contemplating because I thought it would be so heart breaking, but I have had two leave (although one went overseas and will be back next year!) and have found it a positive experience. I wasn't glad to see them go as such, but was glad that they were happy and doing something they wanted to do! Love your Milly!

Hi Leanne,
I feel for you as I am going through the same as well. My son has been at Uni - 4 hours away for the 3rd year and I still find it hard. I have a daughter 16 still at home and I am dreading when she goes. I feel sort of lost and like what am I supposed to do now after spending the last 20 years raising them. I'm so grateful to have my craft to keep me busy as well as working.
Your Milly doll is lovely and I have my copy of 'Gift' now and can't wait to make some things from it.
Keep us posted with photos of your new sewing room love to see it when it is finished.
Kind regards from Liz

Oh, poor you!!! I am struggling enough with the thought of my kiddies starting school and being away that much let alone moving out!!!!! I hope you will be OK and that there will be so much contact between you that she will not feel too far away! And yay about the sewing room!!! That is a plus! Adore your Miss Milly, she is beautiful!!!
