A bit of this and a bit of that

A few finishes.
Before Christmas I bought a "poppet" kit from Nicole Mallalieu Designs. I love the end result, there was only one point in the making process that I had to worry about.
The part when it said GLUE.
Glue and I are not friends but I sat myself down at the kitchen table and said to the family
"DO NOT SPEAK TO ME UNTIL I HAVE FINISHED".
It all turned out fine.
I think I will use it as a makeup purse.
Nicoles instructions are very good she puts a lot into them, I can see myself making some more of these as gifts.

I even got around to making myself some little labels.

Another enjoyable little project was the pincushion in Rosalie's recent book.
I love the kaleidoscope effect you get with this fabric.

Hi Leanne,

Lovely little purse! I like how fat it is, it should hold a lot. So you overcame your fear of glue, hmmm, that's excellent. I, myself, had to recently overcome a zipper phobia, so I know what you mean. I'm glad it worked out so well for you.

And those pincusions. Nice! I don't think the kaleidescopes just "happen" unless you put lots of thought and care into them, which you obviously did. 8-)

Happy quilting,
Susan

Leanne, the purse is lovely.. I have a fear of glue / fabric combo as well.. I have made some tactical errors in the past and ended up with a very gluey project :o( I love your pincushion as well, you can't have enough pincushions - ever!

take care

Too cute! Love the little purse and the pincushion as well. I just enjoy having lovely things around (instead of something that is functional, but ugly). You did a great job!

Love your message to family - "Do not speak to me........" I can totally relate to that one. Lol.
The purse is gorgeous, as is the pincushion, as is the sun flower, love the perspective.

Gorgeous projects Leanne. I too suffer from the little known ailment stickaphobia. I always end up with little strands of glue from the glue pot, tube or brush getting tangled up with my project. If I wasn't such a lady, it would cause me to swear!

hahaha - for you it's glue for me it's contact!
contact and i are not friends. i need serious therapy and lots of valium after contacting school books. in fact, as part of my course i had to cover books - the first lot (hardcover books) were easy peasy - and then came the contact.......
i did ask at one stage if anyone could fail the subject cause they couldn't contact a book - lol
i love the purse though - it's gorgeous. i've been wanting to try one too but have been scared off. i love the pincushion as well.

Hi Leanne,
In addition to overcoming my zipper phobia I actually learned something new about zippers. The double ended zipper you noticed on my purse pictures is called... wait for it... a "purse zipper". I know this because I stood for at least 15 minutes quaking in front of an overwhelming zipper display identifying dozens of zippers that were a.) the wrong type, b.) the wrong length or c.) the wrong color or all of the above. I finally decided that something called a "purse zipper" would probably work since I was making a purse. 8) I went for one that was too long in a neutral color and cut it down 3 times.

Happy quilting,
Susan

PS Zippers are still kinda scary.

Hi Leanne,
I wish I was fast enough to knit 3 pairs of socks but sadly it was just the one pair. It was however, No 3 from January's list - 9 more items to go. I have unpicked Evie's cardigan 3 times now, have at last got it right. Won't add so much next month and will follow Stina and put " anything else that takes my fancy" , think that will cover it.

Leanne when I was a little girl, my grandma worked at a 5 and 10 cent store.... and she would bring home all sorts of fun things. I used to love the coin purses she would give to me when I went to visit. Very much like the one you made.
