Honestly I don't feel 100

Well I have finally made it to 100 ...posts that is.

On the crafting front I have just finished a shawl the pattern came from Just another row who no longer has a blog.

Yesterday I asked Gemma could she model the shawl for me so I could take some photos.............. remember how helpful my boys were.

Here is the photo shoot firstly like all models she was hard to work with she insisted on being mysterious.

Project 365

Then she wanted to go and get a prop she said anyone who has a shawl like this is a granny and as we didn't have a walking stick she got a broken umbrella out. This is her impersonation of a granny.

knitted shawl

I know a shawl is a little granny like but I hate winter and spend a great deal of time feeling cold.

knitted shawl

Today while Gemma was at work I had a far more co-operative model. Mmmm have you noticed green is my favourite colour.

Project 365

Mel liked my shawl so much he thought he might keep it.

In true blogging style there has to be a give away for my 100th so leave a comment and I will draw a name on Friday. Even if you are a lurker please feel free to say hi.

I have a suspicion that Mel is a dag. Either that, or your alter ego. Still a dag, and I say that with affection!!

Your shawl is lovely. Green is a big favourite of mine too. Mel is such a quite little monkey that you had me searching for a monkey pattern all weekend. I think i found a suitable one, now i just need to find the time.

Happy 100th birthday - at least that shawl will keep you warm at your advanced age - Gemma was obviously on to something there!!!! Only kidding - that shawl is gorgeous but I think Mel is a much more appreciative model - no offence to the beautiful Gemma though!

Happy 100! Quite an accomplishment. Glad to see Mel! Love the shawl, though good luck prying it out of Mel's hands!

At least Mel wasn't worried about looking like a little old lady! The shawl suited him to a T too. He looked very cozy in his carrying case.

Don't enter me in the draw as I'm way off in Canada.

Hey Leanne,

Hi Leanne, I answered your question in the comments section of my blog but didn't know if you'd get back to check it out so here it is:

My husband's job was for Environment Canada as a Weather Forecaster. Sometimes, his office would contract out some weather forecasters to forestry during the fire season and D always jumped at the chance. It is exciting work ... says he. He has since retired but picks up some sub-contract work with forestry just during the fire season. Based on his forecasts, the fellow in charge of the fire center will move men and equipment around ... to be johnny on the spots for when lightning strikes ... so he needs to get things right! Last year they were able to quickly and efficiently nip fires caused by lightning strikes in the bud. He does some training of the ground crews as to how fire and weather interact. D is actually a very good forecaster having a good handle on B.C. weather. He has worked in every area of the province so knows how the weather comes in, in the various areas. Today, they try to do so much by instruments but there was nothing like the hands on, look at what's happening at the moment of the old days. We watch the forecasts coming out now and shake our heads. I'm all for apprenticeship ... let them grow from the grass roots up. But cut backs, cut backs ...

Natural fires are actually a good thing, however, so many people now live in these rural areas that they are required to squelch most of them. If a fire is in a provincial park, they are let to burn. We probably wouldn't have beetle kill quite so bad if they had let nature take her course over the years. Also, they planted mostly pine when they reforested after harvesting, because it is a quick growing tree ... but that is another topic!

I never know where to answer a question. I make comments and never go back to see if a comment has been made on my comment so then I think people are like me. I don't get THAT many comments anyway.
